Revitalizing Botswana’s TVET for Economic Transformation and Youth Empowerment

The Ministry of Higher Education has organised a TVET Pitso scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday). The 2025 TVET PITSO serves as a national dialogue platform to assess, align, and accelerate Botswana’s TVET transformation agenda in line with Vision 2036 and the Reset Agenda.

The ministry is also intending to strengthen public education towards raising awareness on vocational education as well as its role in infrastructure development and economic diversification through the platform.

Held under the theme “Revitalising TVET for Economic Transformation and Youth Empowerment,” the forum brings together policymakers, industry leaders, educators, development partners, and youth to deliberate on making TVET more responsive to national priorities.

Minister for Higher Education Prince Maele has recently said that TVET was key to a thriving tourism sector, hence the need to create long-lasting partnerships and that TVET could assist in economic diversification and the unemployment scourge. Additionally, stalls will be showcasing the potential opportunities that prevail the importance and future of TVET.

The Pitso also focuses on repositioning TVET as a driver of industrialisation and entrepreneurship. Moreover, it seeks to promote innovation and digital skills for the future of work. The Pitso will be officiated by President Duma Boko and will be held at BaIsago University on Gaborone.
