President Advocate Duma Gideon Boko has called on all land boards across the country to enhance their efficiency in land allocation, urging them to issue land immediately upon application where possible.
Speaking at the Aviation Pitso in Maun this week, a forum aimed at improving Botswana’s air transport sector, President Boko acknowledged the widespread perception that land board officers are the primary obstacle to land ownership.
Boko challenged the boards to prove this notion wrong by improving service delivery and ensuring land is made readily and quickly available to applicants.
“Land should be easily accessible and issued in the shortest time possible,” he said.
President Boko’s remarks come amid growing public frustration over land application backlogs and delays, which have long plagued the country’s land administration system.
