President Advocate Duma Boko has called on senior government officials to be radical, result oriented, and accountable in the pursuit of national transformation.
Speaking on Monday morning in Gaborone, where he was addressing accounting officers from across different ministries and departments, Boko called for a radical approach to implementing solutions to challenges that the country faces.
Boko said transformation will only be achieved through honest reflection and also through acting out of ethics and staying free from irrelevant influences.
In a passionate plea to the technocrats at government enclave, he sternly warned of a failed leadership approach, which ought to be reconsidered and reproached.
“We ought to build wealth not only for now but also for generations that are coming. The diamond bloom of the eighties should have created wealth for us now, now we are on a diamond slump, we are down in the gutter these are challenges we have to engage around,” said Boko.
He went on to lay down the plan around radical economic reform. He stated that the plan is centred around tax collection and issuance of drivers licenses and personal identification cards, which will see a digital lift. ” We as a country dare not fail because it will sink us, If you want to build an energised democratic society, it has to be open, it has to be transparent and whatever you do must be done for the betterment of the people,” said Boko.
