As part of its ongoing judicial reforms, Botswana has launched a criminal court.
The criminal court is geared toward speeding up disposal of criminal matters.
Launched this week in Gaborone, the Chief Justice Gaolapelwe Ketlogetswe announced that the new criminal court aims to reduce the criminal cases backlog by 30% by the end of the year.
Ketlogetswe will personally be leading the corruption desk under this specialised court. Moreover, six judges in Gaborone and three in Francistown will preside over matters in the said jurisdiction.
